B.V.S. Bhaskar

Razole (East Godavari): It was a surprise of sorts for the five-member team of the rural post office here. The members are going to be felicitated in Malt Island of South Africa for their wonderful achievement. The Razole head post office has stood third among the 500 teams that had sent in their entries to the International Money Transfer competition. The meritorious five had done 11,544 transactions from January to December 2007 making for a whopping Rs. 30-crore business! “We did not think of sending our entry for the competition. But our Chief Postmaster General, postal directors and other top officials encouraged us to do so,” said YSSV Prasad, Head Postmaster of the Razole head post office.

Western Union and Indian Postal Department have an understanding in the International Money Transfer to different countries.

The head postmaster had got intimation just a couple of days ago that his team secured the third place internationally for its efforts in money transfer to different countries.
