‘Eco Industrial Parks’ at Nacharam and Mallapur

HYDERABAD: The foundation stone for the Rs. 5.75 crore Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for industrial parks of Nacharam and Mallapur was laid by B.P. Acharya, Chairman and Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation here on Monday.

The CETP being established by Indwa Technologies, with an initial capacity of 2 MLD to go up to 8 MLD on Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis, is expected to be ready within six months’ time. Once completed, the facility will treat waste water from units at the two industrial parks and also the textile park.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Acharya asked the company to get the facility operational on fast track before the monsoon. The industrial estate here was vulnerable for pollution and has already drawn adverse response from various quarters. “It is high time, the CETP is taken up here,” he said.

The industrial estate is also being equipped with various amenities and infrastructure including storm water drain at Rs. 8 crore and roads with around Rs. 5.50 crore, Mr. Acharya informed. Indwa has already completed upgradation of CETP in Maharashtra, Common Wastewater Treatment Plant for Gundla Pochampalli and Effluent and Wastewater Treatment plants for industries and institutions such as National Institute of Technology, Warangal. On its part, the APIIC in technical collaboration from the German Ministry for Economic Development & Cooperation is developing Eco Industrial Parks in the State and the Industrial Parks of Nacharam and Mallapur are included in pilot phase. Establishment of CETP here is a part of intervention measures taken up by the APIIC.

The Nacharam Industrial Park has 340 industrial units while Mallapur has about 200 industries. Each of these units will enter into an agreement with Indwa Technologies in terms of quality and quantity of wastewater to be treated at the CETP, once it is ready.
