UC College triumphs again

ALUVA: The host Union Christian College, with an all-win record in the four-team league, won the Mahatma Gandhi University inter-collegiate hockey title for the fourth consecutive year here on Tuesday.

Union Christian defeated St Albert’s 4-1, Maharaja’s 4-0 and CMS 3-0 with Prabhath topping the scoring chart with five goals in the final league phase.

St Albert’s, which was tied with Maharaja’s College, finished runner-up with a superior goal average.

The results (league): Union Christian, Aluva bt Maharaja’s, Ernakulam 4-0; UC bt St. Albert’s, Ernakulam, 4-1; UC bt CMS, Kottayam 3-0; St. Albert’s bt CMS 4-0; St. Albert’s drew with Maharaja’s 0-0; Maharaja’s bt CMS 3-0.
