THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kozhikode and Kottayam won the team titles in the boys and girls sections respectively in the State junior wrestling championships here on Tuesday. In the boys’ sections, both Kozhikode and Kottyam finished with 17 points but Kozhikode was declared the winner for having won more gold medals. Alappuzha finished third. Kottayam took the girls’ title with 21 points followed by Ernakulam (12 pts) and Thiruvananthapuram (8 pts). The results (winners only): Boys: 50kg: M.R. Raneesh (Kzde); 55kg: T.S. Sandeep (Kzde), 60kg: Mohammed Riyas (Pkd); 66kg: A.Vipin (Alp); 74kg: S. Suneesh (Ksgd); 84kg: Shyam Thomas (Idk); 96kg: Manu K. Jose (Knr); 120kg: Vinu Poonachan (Alp). Girls: 44kg: Sajitha Raju (Ktm); 48kg: Sijomol Johnson (Ktm); 51kg: M.G. Anjana (Tvm); 55kg: Shinu Kurian (Ekm); 59kg: Chinchu Joy (Ktm); 63kg: Liji Charles (Ktm); 67kg: Aswathi Gangadharan (Alp); 72kg: Dincy Ninan (Ktm). Team championships: Boys: 1.
