Bangladesh to tour Australia

SYDNEY: Australia will play Bangladesh in a three-match one-day cricket series in the northern city of Darwin in August-September this year, Cricket Australia said on Tuesday.

The matches (August 31, Sept. 3 and 6) would be played at the Marrara Stadium.

The announcement followed the Northern Territory government’s commitment to a five-year deal to develop cricket in the territory.

“Cricket Australia is committed to promoting Darwin on the international stage and also as an ideal training base for development squads in the off-season,” CA chief executive James Sutherland said.

“The location and (dry season) climate are ideal for matches during the Australian winter when playing cricket in the southern states is simply not considered.” — Agencies
