Project facts, media told

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: Instead of sensationalising issues having adverse impact on society, the media must project facts and downplay sensitive events, said P. Bobby Vardhan, Head of the Andhra University Journalism Department. He also advised the media to draw a ‘Lakshmana Rekha’. Speaking on the theme ‘Newspapers and ethics’ at a sadassu organised by Telugu Basha Samiti at M.R. College (autonomous) here on Wednesday, Prof. Bobby Vardhan said too many news channels and language newspapers gave room for unhealthy competition.

Stating that people have not lost faith in media reports, he said biased reporting depended on the diktats of capitalists who own newspapers and journalists must have to toe their line for sustenance.

College Principal M.V. Prabhakara Rao and Vice-Principal D.R.K. Raju spoke. Samiti president and Head of Telugu Department Suri Seetharamaiah presided.
