Rain kills 8 in Prakasam, Vizag

HYDERABAD: Heavy rain that lashed the State for the fifth day on Wednesday claimed three lives in Prakasam district apart from damaging vast stretches of crops in at least six districts.

Three persons were drowned in flash floods in a stream in Prakasam while two others were reported missing.

In Visakhapatnam district, five persons were killed when their boat capsized.

The rain caused extensive damage to bengalgram, paddy, tobacco, redgram, chillies, groundnut.

The brunt of the rain fury was faced by farmers of Prakasam district where crop in 1.03 lakh hectares was damaged.
