Petition against Tendulkar dismissed

Indore: A court here on Friday dismissed a petition alleging dishonour to the national flag by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Centre’s permission

The revision plea was dismissed by the court of Special judge Mohammad Shamim, who said the Centre’s permission to proceed in the case must be attached to the petition since the incident occurred in a foreign country.

During the cricket World Cup in West Indies last year, Tendulkar reportedly cut a cake with an icing in the colours and shape of the national flag. The complainant, Rajesh Bidkar, alleged that the cricketer deliberately dishonoured the tricolour. — PTI
