NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission has sent notice to the Maharashtra Chief Secretary on a press report that a person who, along with his family, fled Nashik was beaten up by workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The report said a large number of Biharis, working in Maharashtra, had fled the State following terror and violence unleashed by MNS activists. Viewing this as a serious issue of rights violation, the NHRC has called for a report from the Chief Secretary within four weeks. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
