KOLKATA: India’s Rohan Gide pulled off the only upset, beating compatriot Navdeep Singh 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 in the opening round of the ITF men’s Futures here at the Jaideep Mukherjea Tennis Academy on Monday. Having lost in the final of the qualifiers on Sunday, Gide (ranked 1491) was chosen as ‘lucky loser’ when Pakistan’s Aqeel Khan failed to turn up for his match against Singh. Third-seeded Todor Enev of Bulgaria, who won the event last year, had it easy against Tzu-Yang Lin.
