Services, Orissa top medals tally

Hyderabad: Services and Orissa topped the medal tally in the Open national rowing championships which concluded at the Hussainsagar lake on Sunday evening.

Rahul Baliga of Tamil Nadu, the youngest rower in the men’s section gave his State a gold medal when he won the single sculls event with a timing of 1m 41.99s.

Host Andhra secured a silver in the men’s lightweight double scull event in which S.S. Dangi and Sashi came second.

The following is the medal tally (under gold, silver, bronze):

Men: Services (2-0-1), Karnataka (1-1-0), Tamil Nadu (1-0-0), Engineers (0-2-1), Andhra Pradesh (0-1-0), Chandigarh (0-0-1), Delhi (0-0-1).

Women: Orissa (4-0-0), Manipur (0-2-1), Kerala (0-1-1), Andamans (0-1-1), Tamil Nadu (0-0-1).
