KARUR: A concerted move is being made to bring together various stakeholders and players in the textile sector to forge a confederation and overcome crises such as rupee appreciation, yarn price fluctuation, availability of cotton and suggest to the Government the need for a re-look at the industry’s requirements. This was deliberated at a meeting of textile exporters, spinning mill owners’ associations and yarn traders from Karur, Coimbatore, Madurai, Dindigul and Erode here on Friday. The immediate need as far as the Karur textile exporters are concerned is finding the means to overcome the sudden spurt in prices of coarse yarn varieties. Coupled with rupee appreciation, the picture of gloom was complete, Karur Textile Manufacuturer Exporters’ Association president V. Kumar said. “We feel it was high time we need to rise as one to find lasting solutions to the various crises,” said Karur Textile Forum Chairman M. Sivakannan.
