Harpanahalli to host Kannada sammelan

DAVANGERE: The second Kannada Sahitya Sammelan in Davangere district will be held at Harpanahalli on February 23 and 24.

Writer T. Girija will preside over the sammelan.

The former MLA and chairman of the reception committee P.T. Parameshwara Naika will hoist the National Flag and president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat district unit S.H. Hoogar will hoist the parishat flag before the inauguration of the conference.

The former Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash will inaugurate the conference on February 23 and Bellary MP G. Karunakara Reddy will release Kannada books on the occasion. Davangere MP G.M. Siddeshwar will inaugurate the Kannada book exhibition.

Janapada artiste Mudenur Sanganna and Director of the Janapada Museum, Mysore, Aravind Malagatti will give special lectures to mark the event. Three topics selected for the conference are “Kannada Ulivu-Madyamagalu-Chaluvaligalu,” “Prasthutha Sandharbadalli Mahile” and “Davangere Jilleya Vishishtagalu.”

Over 30 persons will be honoured on the occasion.
