‘Pharmaceutical companies in five States violating rules’

MAHABUBNAGAR: Members of AP Medical and Sales Representatives Union, Mahabubnagar unit on Wednesday, alleged that pharmaceutical firms in five States were violating provisions of the Sales Promotion Employees (Conditions of Services) Act 1976 and rules there under.

The union members submitted a memorandum to the Labour Ministers of Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh through Assistant Commissioner of Labour here.

N. Chandrakanth and K. Srinivas Rao, president and secretary of the union respectively, alleged that in spite of several representations and complaints to various district labour authorities, no action was taken against the firms.

They said the companies were not issuing letter of appointment in the format as prescribed in Sec.22 (1) A of the rules in accordance with Sec 5 of the Act, not maintaining registers and other documents as prescribed in Sec. 23 of the rules and not procuring signature of sales promotion employees in service book in form ‘C’.
