Freedom fighters from Karimnagar, Hyderabad allotted land in violation of norms

Sangareddy: Action against those involved in the illegal allocation of over 100 acres of land in survey number 343 of Aminpur worth nearly Rs 200 crore to freedom fighters from other districts has begun with the suspension of Sankarappa, then MRO of Patancheru and currently Tahasildar of Ramachandrapuram, for his alleged role in the allotment. Sankarappa is one of the officers indicted in the Vigilance and Enforcement report that recommended action against then Joint Collector Bhima Nayak, RDO Ramamurthy and local MLA T.Jayaprakash Reddy who is the chairman of the assignment committee. So far the only person who was suspended is Aminpur panchayat secretary Jamula Naik.

The report submitted by Joint Collector Vani Mohan mentioned that seven freedom fighters belonging to Karimnagar and Hyderabad had been allocated 35 acres of land illegally against the norms of GO MS number 185 (Revenue). K.Komuraiah, B.Savitramma, S.Devaiah, E.Rajanarsu, M.Mallesham, V.Veeramallu and B.Bhadraiah were allocated five acres each.

Quoting the rule position she mentioned that “Assignment of land for agricultural purpose shall not be considered unless in the native village of the freedom fighter.” She also mentioned that the whole process of allocation was completed in less than ten days. She recommended the cancellation of the allocation in January 2007.

Later, it was also unearthed that the same group of officers had allocated another 65 acres of land to 13 freedom fighters who have no roots in Medak district. The land was allocated in survey numbers 343/24 to 343/32 and 343/3/18 to 343/3/21. In either case, the MRO who was supposed to ascertain whether the freedom fighters were given land in their native districts failed to do so.

Similarly, the Joint Collector also found illegal allocation of 22 acres in survey number 343 of Aminpur to individuals whose whereabouts are questionable.
