VIJAYAWADA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only alternative to the Congress at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh in the ensuing elections, said leaders of the party at their State council meeting held here on Wednesday. Party senior leader M. Venkaiah Naidu, national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar, State president Bandaru Duttatreya and other State leaders addressed members of the council, which passed political and agricultural resolutions. Mr. Naidu, taking a dig at the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), asserted that a coalition of regional parties could never rule the country. As the country was facing several problems in different regions, only a coalition led by a national party could resolve them. The Congress was putting terrorism and religion in the same box to promote its own vote bank politics, he alleged. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
