Police clueless in baby abduction case

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Three days after the abduction of a new-born baby from the KGH, the city police have not made any headway into the case. A woman aged around 25 years approached the woman in the maternity ward and told her that she was taking the baby to record her weight. Mistaking the girl for a nurse, the woman let her take the baby.

A woman saw the impostor walking out of the hospital with the baby. The police said the accused woman was about 5’ 5” tall with a dark complexion. The teeth in her lower jaw were black. They appealed to the public to inform the police if they saw any suspicious-looking girl having the above characteristics. They announced that anyone giving information about the whereabouts of the girl would be suitably rewarded.

“We will review the case tomorrow and intensify the search for the accused,” Police Commissioner N. Sambasiva Rao said.

Meanwhile, MLA D. Srinivas called on Damayanti, mother of the baby, and consoled her.
