Militants attack Congress MLA’s house

Imphal: Unidentified militants hurled a bomb and fired at the house of Congress legislator I. Hemochandra Singh at Shingjamei area in Imphal West district of Manipur late on Sunday night.

Official sources said the militants who came in a two-wheeler exploded a bomb and then fired indiscriminately. They then escaped under cover of darkness. Mr. Singh was not present at the time of the attack and no casualty was reported, the sources said.

The police would investigate whether the attack was related to an extortion demand by the militant outfit. — PTI
