Gurukula tradition

The ‘Samavarthabhishek,’ a ritual symbolising the end of formal school education, was conducted at the Chavara Vidya Bhavan Matriculation Higher Secondary School recently. Verses were read out from holy books. Students lit lamps and flowers were offered to the ‘Garba Griha.’ Students were also given shields to mark their induction into the scholarly world. The school upheld the ancient ‘gurukula’ system, in which the relationship between the ‘guru’ (teacher) and ‘shishya’ (student) was sacred.

Celebrated

The first annual day celebrations of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Ajjanur, was conducted recently. L.G.Varadaraj, Chairman of Elgi Group of Companies, was the chief guest. B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore Kendra, spoke to the students.
