With hope for the future: Candidates wait for their turn at the multimedia job fair in Chennai on Sunday.

CHENNAI: More than 400 students from across the State participated in a multimedia job fair, organised by CSC Softview Visual Communication, at Loyola College on Sunday.

Fourteen organisations participated, looking for suitable candidates for positions in DTP operation, graphics and animation, content development, audio engineering, layout and teaching.

Graduates in disciplines such as visual communication and multimedia participated. A total of 105 of them were selected.

Roughly 20 per cent of all participants would proceed to the second stage of the recruitment process, said M. Anto Peter, CEO, CSC-Softview.

The fair is being held for the third consecutive year. The demand for these jobs is only about two years old, said Mr. Peter. Earlier, the demand was almost exclusively for the Information Technology (IT) and Human Resource Management professionals. Employers now required a large number of personnel skilled in multimedia across government and private organisations.

Mayor M. Subramanian participated in the inaugural, along with V. Sankara Naryanan, Director, Crescent Engineering College, and T. Iyamperumal, Director, CSC Computer Education.
