Five men pose as courier delivery staff, stab woman

BANGALORE: Posing as courier delivery staff, five armed men stabbed a 24-year-old woman at her house in Jayanagar police station limits here on Monday.

At evening

The police said that around 3.30 p.m. the five men, aged between 20 and 25, came to a businessman’s house situated near Madhavan Park in 3rd Block, Jayanagar. When the businessman’s daughter opened the door, they introduced themselves as courier delivery staff.

While she was receiving an envelope from them, one of the youths stabbed her in the abdomen with a knife. She pushed the attacker and raised an alarm.

As her family members rushed out, the five youths ran away, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) S. Ravi told The Hindu.

Hospitalised

“The victim has been admitted in a hospital and doctors have said that she is out of danger. It was an attempt to loot valuables from the house,” Mr. Ravi said.

The robbers had struck at the house as they were apparently under the impression that the woman was alone at home.

They were strangers to the victim and her family. Such incidents have been reported from other parts of the city also, the officer said. The Jayanagar police have registered a case of attempt to murder.
