Kakinada: Former Army employee M. Subrahmanyam, 42, committed suicide by falling under train near Kakinada town station in the early hours of Tuesday. According to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Subrahmanyam was working as a private accounts clerk in the district headquarters after retiring from service. He recently underwent surgery for an intestinal disorder. However, he did not fully recover from the ailment and it was suspected to be the reason for the extreme step. GRP head constable C. Pullaiah, who is investigating the case, said that Subrahmanyam tried to end his life last night but was prevented by some people of his residential area, Venkatnagar. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
