New Delhi: The Indian men’s team blanked Thailand 3-0 to finish atop their group, while the Indian women’s team got the better of Estonia by an identical margin to finish third in their group after the first stage of the World team table tennis championships in Guangzhou, China. The men ended the first stage with three wins and a loss to garner seven points. The women finished their group engagements with eight points after two losses and three wins. In the men’s clash against Thailand, National champion A. Sharath Kamal beat Phakphoom Sanguansin 6-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-6. Soumyadeep posts winSoumyadeep Roy, who has been struggling with his form until now, finally came good as he defeated Phuchang Sanguansin 11-2, 3-11, 11-8, 10-12, 11-6.
