BJP leading in Pauri

DEHRA DUN: Lt. Gen. (Retd) T. P. S. Rawat of the Bharatiya Janata Party was leading by over 3,500 votes over Satpal Maharaj of the Congress in the Pauri parliamentary by-election when reports last came in on Wednesday night with counting of votes still in progress.

The forward march by General Rawat began in the evening after the counting of postal ballots was taken up. Satpal Maharaj had bagged 108 votes more than General Rawat in the counting of ballots cast in the electronic voting machines earlier in the day.
