One-year RI for Shahabuddin in threat case

PATNA: A special court in Siwan held Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Mohammed Shahabuddin guilty of threatening a police officer investigating cases against him and sentenced him to one year’s rigorous imprisonment.

Additional district and sessions judge B.B. Gupta conducted the trial inside the Siwan jail, where Mr. Shahbuddin is currently lodged. Mr. Shahabuddin, as an undertrial prisoner lodged in the Central Jail, Beur, threatened Jiradei sub-inspector Harendra Rai on February 2, 2005 against investigating cases against him.

Other cases

He had earlier been convicted on four other counts, including a case of murder, in which he was awarded life imprisonment. He was acquitted in three other cases.
