Hyderabad: Delhi-based sitar artiste Renu Jain will give a performance on Saturday at Ravindra Bharathi mini-theatre at 6.30 p.m.

Trained under Pandit Umashankar Mishra, a disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ms Jain has performed at many places in the country and abroad.

She has won many awards and honours. A major in interior design from the University of Minnesota, Ms Jain has mastered the intricacies of ‘Alap’, expertise of ‘Jod’ and created her own style under the influence of Charanjit Chaturlal, son of the tabla wizard Pandit Chaturlal.

Playing the sitar, Ms Jain says, is like offering worship at the feet of the Lord and the most fulfilling creative expression.
