NEW DELHI: Parwinder Awana claimed four wickets and Shikhar Dhawan slammed a brilliant 70 as Delhi defeated Himachal Pradesh by eight wickets in the North Zone one-day league at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Saturday. This was Delhi’s third win in as many matches. Electing to field, Delhi had Himachal reeling at 40 for seven before Mukesh Sharma offered resistance with a 115-ball knock of 84 not out with seven fours and two sixes. Sharma and Ashok Thakur (17 not out) added 72 runs for the last wicket. Delhi was hardly troubled by Himachal bowlers as Dhawan (83 balls, ten fours) and Mayank Tehlan (45 off 79 balls with four fours) set the tempo for skipper Mithun Manhas finish with a flourish (31 not out off 31 balls with three fours and one six). In other matches, Haryana defeated Services by 36 runs at the Palam ground while Haryana beat Jammu and Kashmir by 37 runs at the Harbaksh Singh Stadium. The scores: HP 160 for nine in 50 overs (Mukesh Sharma 84 n.o., Parwinder Awana four for 30) lost to Delhi 163 for two in 35.2 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 70, Mayank Tehlan 45, Mithun Manhas 31 n.o.). Haryana 232 for seven in 50 overs (Amardeep Sonkar 73, Sachin Rana 48) bt Services 196 in 47.3 overs (Tahir Khan 75, Soumik Chatterjee 45).
