Murari (East Godavari): Former DGP and TDP leader Pervaram Ramulu, TDP State leaders Naik, M. Ramesh and others have alleged that Pushkara Lift Irrigation scheme, taken up by the Congress Government as one of the prestigious projects under Jalayagnam is going to be a big flop. Speaking to media persons on Saturday after touring Talluru, Jaggampeta, Murari villages where Pushkara pump houses, main canals begins, the TDP leaders alleged that incomplete and low quality works are seen at a number of places in their tour. They said that farmers came in large numbers and gave representations and stated that the pump houses were submerged with water during rains last year during the construction, canals were breached at many places and bunds developed cracks at several points. The TDP leaders have pointed out that they have seen all these low quality works personally and Government has wasted lakhs of rupees on this scheme without deriving any benefit to farmers. Pervaram Ramulu said that in the name of Jalayagnam the Government has benefited contractors, political leaders and few officials and farmers were deceived by the Congress. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
