Maredumilli (East Godavari): East Godavari agency area on Saturday witnessed hectic activity with large number of tribals attending the mega medical camp arranged by the District Police Administration and Durga Somprasad Charitable Trust. Inaugurating the camp, District Collector M. Subrahmanyam praised the police for maintaining law and order and taking up social and economic activities for tribals simultaneously. He said that administration is committed to provide basic amenities to interior places with the help of police and ITDA. He said they took up a number of long term plans and employment schemes for the benefit of tribals, which were yielding good results. The Collector said that rubber plantation was an example for increasing the standard of living of tribals in Rampachodavaram, Maredumilli, Addathegala and other Agency areas. SP B. Srinivasulu said that the medical camp are aimed to provide better medical facilities and health awareness among the tribals. He informed that they were also conducting sports for the youths. The Collector distributed 250 TVs, 20 dish antennae, cycles, volleyball kits and other sports kits to the tribals. ITDA Project Officer Yogitha Rana said that they would be spending Rs. 14 crores to provide electricity to the interior villages. She said that police has to take part in social activities and develop friendly attitude with the tribals. Durga Somu Trust Chairman D.
