MANGALORE: A 10-day exhibition of products of cottage and village industries from all over south India is set to begin here on Monday.

As many as 90 stalls have been put up at Hotel Woodlands in Lalbaugh, the venue of the exhibition.

Director of State Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) K. Mohan Raju told presspersons that the purpose of the exhibition was to support rural entrepreneurs.

He said that this was the first State-level exhibition of village industry products in the city and sought the people from the region to visit the exhibition in large numbers.

The products to be displayed include khadi textiles, herbal products, imitation jewellery, handicrafts and home-made products such as pickles and honey.

Some of the exhibitors have come from Orissa and West Bengal.

“The objective of this event is to promote the rural industry and not profit. The products on sale are reasonably priced and eco-friendly,” Mr. Raju said.
