Two engineering students killed

Rajahmundry: Two engineering students died in a road accident and another declared clinically dead while 14 others were seriously injured.

According to Rajahmundry DSP S. Saibaba, students of third year engineering, studying in Godavari Institute of Engineering (GIET), were travelling in their college bus from Rajahmundry to Kakinada to attend Human Resource Summit organised by the college.

The accident took place when the bus travelling at high speed rammed into a stationary lorry.

Hemanth, son of a public prosecutor of Anakapalli, died on the spot along with Ramalakshmi of Ravulapalem.

Fourteen students who sustained serious injuries were rushed to GSL Medical college hospital. Another student, Arunapriya, lost her hand in the accident.

According to Chairman of GSL Medical College Dr. Ganni Bhaskara Rao, a student, Divya, who was brought with serious head and other injuries was declared clinically dead but she is on ventilators. Students travelling in the bus said that it was not driven by the regular driver but by a placement officer, Ramesh alias Gaddem Ramesh. He is absconding.
