Srikakulam: The District Collector, Nagulapalli Srikanth, has convened a meeting of the task force officers and Tahasildars, MPDOs and Housing AEs who were appointed as Mandal Housing Officers to execute Indiramma housing scheme to have a thorough discussion of the programme. It may be recalled here that implementation of the Indiramma housing programme, a priority programme of the Government, drew a lot of flak from various quarters. Even ruling party members including MLAs brought to the notice of the officials concerned at various fora the irregularities and other short comings in the execution of the programme. In the first phase of the programme in which nearly 70,000 houses were sanctioned, as many as 4,170 had not been grounded and 15,740 were left at the foundation stage. In second phase 76,000 had been sanctioned of which 8,225 were at the foundation level. Merely 540 had been completed. In a video conference recently the Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy expressed unhappiness at the tardy progress of Indiramma programme.
