Satyam’s centre in Egypt

HYDERABAD: Satyam Computer Services opened a 300-seat Global Solutions Centre (GSC) in Egypt.

This first GSC in the West Asian and African region is the 28th for the company across the globe. The centre will serve the company’s customers in West Asia, North Africa and European countries.

Tarek Kamel, Egyptian Minister of Communications & Information Technology, inaugurated the centre.

Giving details over a tele-conference from Egypt, B. Rama Raju, CEO and Managing Director, said the centre was located in Giza.

Over 90 per cent of the professionals were recruited locally.

The availability of French and other European language skills among engineers recruited there would be an added advantage for Satyam. The new GSC would have a couple of training labs.

Virender Agarwal, head of the APAC and West Asian region, said the company wanted to leverage its IT capabilities in the growing oil economy in West Asia.

As part of expanding its global footprint, the company was also planning to establish a GSC in Saudi Arabia.
