Edelweiss is title sponsor of ICL 20s Challenge

Mumbai: Edelweiss Capital is the title sponsor of the Indian Cricket League’s 20s Challenge to be played at three centres in Chandigarh, Gurgaon and Hyderabad.

The tournament will commence on March 9 with a match between Chandigarh Lions and Ahmedabad Rockets.

The other teams in the Edelweiss 20s Challenge are: Delhi Giants, Mumbai Champs, Chennai Superstars, Lahore Badshahs, Kolkata Tigers and Hyderabad Heroes.

Kapil Dev, Chairman of the ICL Executive Board said two more teams have been added in order to give opportunities to a large number of cricketers.

“There has been a significant increase in player base and that once the Indian players are ready, I want them to play for India.

“I am not impressed with figures of 200 crores, 300 crores, 1000 crores, I want the people to be convinced with what we are doing.”

Himanshu Modi, Business Head of ICL, said: “I will accept the cheque,” when asked as to what he would do if ICL was offered crores of rupees for sponsorship and whether he agreed with Kapil Dev.

Soon Kapil Dev said: “My job is to run cricket, and his job is to look after the bank balance.” — Special Correspondent
