Bangalore: India’s Test skipper Anil Kumble along with Rahul Dravid, V.V.S. Laxman, Wasim Jaffer and V.R.V. Singh underwent a series of routine fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy here on Thursday. The one-day test was monitored by strengthening and conditioning coach Paul Chapman, physio Paul Close and the academy’s director of operations Dav Whatmore. The fitness tests are a prelude to the three-Test series against South Africa commencing on March 26. Dravid, who suffered a finger injury on the Australian tour, is expected to be fit in time for the series. On Friday, R.P. Singh will have a fitness test to prove his recovery from a right hamstring injury, while Pankaj Singh will have a routine test. The duo will be joined by Sourav Ganguly on Saturday. — Principal Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
