U-19 World Cup hero returns home

VISAKHAPATNAM: Member of Indian under-19 team that won the World Cup held in Kaula Lumpur returned to the city on Thursday to a tumultuous welcome by his friends, relations and cricket lovers at the airport.

Some hundreds of youngsters from Madhavadhara area of the city where Sivakumar lives, his mother Ramani and vice-president of ACA and VDCA P.R. Narayanaswami, joint secretary of VDCA A.P. Naidu received Siva Kumar, who arrived from Hyderabad with his father Rama Rao, a senior official of HUDA.

Siva Kumar was taken to his house in a decorated vehicle. The 18-year-old who played in two matches, against New Zealand and England in the league phase of the tournament, said the entire tournament was a great experience and was happy that a highly talented team won the title. — Special Correspondent
