Sangareddy: The completion of integrated Collectorate complex of Medak district, which would house 29 Government departments, ran into a road block as the district administration failed to secure funds. The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, which funded the project, has so far released Rs. 7.5 crore out of the Rs. 15 crore it sanctioned. The complex is expected to be ready by May 2009. However, the authorities have realised that the initial estimates considered only the super structure and that the cost of electric equipment, furniture and essential fittings were not included. Now, the new Collector, Piyush Kumar, in a letter to Huda, sought an additional Rs. 15 crore for the completion of the project. Construction of the complex began in May last year on 10 acres of land. Once complete, 75,000 square feet of office space would become available for departments which have been running in congested rented accommodation. Land value shoots upWith the new Collectorate complex coming up in Vidyanagar area of the town, the land value has skyrocketed in the neighbouring areas. The value for a square yard has gone four-fold, touching Rs. 10,000 mark. New commercial complexes, multi-storied rental accommodations are coming up to meet the demand. Meanwhile, the authorities have granted land behind the new Collectorate to the Class IV employees. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
