New SFI State Secretary A.N. Shamsheer and president P.Biju THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 29th State conference of the Students Federation of India (SFI) concluded here on Sunday with the organisation resolving to fight all attempts to communalise education. The conference offered all support for the ongoing attempts of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to reform education and called upon the government to take urgent steps to address the problems in the field of higher education. The conference elected P. Biju (Thiruvananthapuram) as the new State president and A.N. Shamsheer (Kannur) as the new State secretary. K.T. Mathew (Alappuzha), K.V. Sumesh (Kannur), M. Rajivan (Kasaragod), P.J. Binesh (Wayanad) and K. Diana (Kozhikode) were elected vice-presidents. Roshan Roy Mathew (Pathanamthitta), V. Sivadasan (Kannur), V.V. Prashanth (Kollam), K.I. Shebeer (Thrissur) and Subhash Chandran (Malappuram) were elected joint-secretaries. Lijo Jose (Ernakulam), S. K. Sajish (Kozhikode), K.R. Anish (Palakkad), A.A. Rahim (Thiruvananthapuram), Dhanya Vijayan (Kottayam), Binu Devasia (Idukki) and P.K. Sabarish Kumar (Kannur) are the secretariat members.
