Opportunity to perform marriage with dignity TTD providing new clothes, mangalasutrams
All the best: Ravindra Gujjula, a legislative member of the Federal State of Brandenburg, Germany, and his wife bless a newly wed couple at the mass marriage programme of the TTD, in Vijayawada on Sunday. — VIJAYAWADA: The brides and the bridegrooms belong to ordinary families. But, all the VVIPs in the city made it a point to come and bless them. Three Ministers, State Government whip, Zilla Parishad chairman, Mayor, district Collector, an MLA and a very distinguished non-resident Indian were among the guests who made it convenient to attend the marriages conducted by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and bless 42 couples who got married in the ‘Kalyanamasthu’ programme. Agriculture Minister Raghuveera Reddy who came to participate in several official programmes, Ministers who belong to Krishna district – Koneru Ranga Rao and Mandali Buddha Prasad – Government whip Samineni Udya Bhanu, Mayor Mallika Begum, district Collector Shailaja Ramiyer, Vijayawada West MLA Sk. Nazarvalli and three times Mayor of Altlandsberg town in Germany Ravindra Gujjula bestowed their blessings on the couples. Dr. Gujjula, who was recently elected a legislative member of the German Federal State of Brandenburg, came to participate in the programme with his German wife. And, they hogged the limelight. Mr. Ranga Rao said that Kalyanamasthu provided an opportunity for people in the poor and middle class families to get their sons and daughters married off with dignity. Many of them did not have the money needed even for a decent marriage, he said.
