Man commits suicide after killing wife

Failure to land a job suspected to have driven him to the extreme step

Police suspect that he was cheated by job agents

VIJAYAWADA: A man apparently committed suicide after killing his wife at their residence at Geetha Nagar in Krishnalanka here on Sunday. The couple was identified as Kola Ramesh, 32, and Sireesha, 26. In a suicide note found near the bodies, Ramesh said that he “has been deceived again” and he could not take “one more chance.” He also said that he was killing Sireesha, as she could not live alone.

Ramesh, residing in Labbipet, married Sireesha, a resident of Balaji Nagar in Krishnalanka, four-and-a-half years ago. The couple shifted to the first floor of a two-storeyed building on Hostel Street of Geetha Nagar about two years ago. Ramesh, a commerce graduate and unemployed, underwent training in SAP software course in a local institute and was trying for a software job. According to Sireesha’s parents Janakiramaiah and Anjali Devi, Ramesh announced last week that he got a job in a software firm and would leave for Bangalore along with Sireesha on Sunday night. He sold away all the furniture, but kept an almirah to give to his parents.

On Sunday morning the aged couple sent their relative Syam to collect the almirah. After knocking on the door several times, he got a doubt as there was no response.

He broke open the main door around 9.30 a.m. and saw the bodies of Ramesh and Sireesha lying on the floor. The Krishnalanka police rushed to the spot and found an empty pesticide bottle, two empty glasses, water bottle, a knife and a piece of cloth with blood stains in the house.

They found an injury on Sireesha’s neck. While Sireesha was in nightdress, Ramesh wore a pair of jeans trousers and a T-shirt.

Inspector of police B. Siva Ramakrishna said that Ramesh might have resorted to the extreme step, as he could not get a job. “Going by his death note, we came to a conclusion that he made several attempts to get a software job and could have been deceived by agents. A clear picture is yet to emerge, as parents of both Ramesh and Sireesha are in dark about his job trials,” he said.
