Security for political party offices strengthened

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Activists of the CPI(M), DYFI and the SFI took out marches in different parts of the State on Sunday evening in protest against the attack on the AKG Bhavan in New Delhi by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists.

The marches were spontaneous at most places and the party workers, carrying burnt tyres and torches, shouted slogans against the BJP and its ‘fascist’ attacks on political opponents. The marches were peaceful but the police kept a constant vigil to prevent outbreak of violence. Special police pickets were placed before offices of the BJP in all the districts.

In Thiruvananthapuram, a march was taken out by party workers in the evening under the leadership of CPI(M) district leaders. A meeting held at the end of the march at the GPO Junction was inaugurated by E.P. Jayarajan, MLA. District panchayat president Anavur Nagappan and V.
