Birmingham: Denmark’s Tine Rasmussen prevented an Asian clean sweep of the All-England titles with a deciding game victory over China’s Lu Lan in the women’s singles final in Birmingham. The unseeded player, who spent a long time out with a ruptured Achilles in 2005, became the first non-Chinese winner since her fellow-Dane Camilla Martin six years ago with a 21-11, 18-21, 22-20 victory over Lu, the No.3 seed.
The results: Singles: Women: Tine Rasmussen (Den) bt Lu Lan (Chi) 21-11, 18-21, 22-20; Doubles: Mixed: Zheng Bo & Gao Ling (Chi) bt Nova Widianto & Liliyana Natsir (Indonesia) 18-21, 21-14, 21-9; Women: Lee Hyo-jung & Lee Kyung-won (S. Kor) bt Du Jing & Yu Yang (China) 12-21, 21-18, 21-14; Men: Jung Jae-sung & Lee Yong-dae (S. Kor) bt Hwang Ji-man/Lee Jae-jin (S.
