Minister inspects memorial works

TIRUVARUR: The Minister for Information and Public Relations Parithi Ilamvazhuthi inspected the construction of memorial for Dr. U. Ve. Swaminatha Iyer, popularly called, ‘Thamizh Thatha’ at Uthamadhanapuram near here on Tuesday.

Nearing completion

The residence of Iyer, called ‘Saraswathi Vilasam’ is being converted into a two floor structure at a cost of Rs.23 lakh. Works are nearing completion. A bust of Iyer will be installed at the memorial. The Director, Information and Public Relations Department, A. C. Mohandoss, District Collector, M. Chandrasekaran, president of Valangaiman panchayat union, V. Anbarasan, president, Uthamadhanapuram panchayat, Kokila Muthamizhselvan, accompanied the Minister during his visit.

Later the Minister inspected the construction of memorial for P. Srinivasa Rao, Communist leader, at Thiruthuraipoondi.
