Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party will commence a series of meetings with its district units from Thursday to prepare a district-wise poll strategy and also to hold consultations on the potential candidates for the elections.

Sources in the BJP told The Hindu that the meeting, in which all the senior BJP leaders, including the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will participate, will dedicate about two hours for each district.

The party State leaders will get inputs from the district units on the geographical and socio-cultural nature of newly drawn up constituencies besides its caste and community composition.

Based on these inputs, the party State unit will finalise its poll strategy. On Wednesday, the party office-bearers northern districts would participate in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader B.N. Bache Gowda is likely to join the BJP in Bangalore on Thursday. Mr. Gowda is expected to join the party in the presence of senior leader M. Venkaiah Naidu and Mr. Yeddyurappa.
