Impressive: Visitors looking at handicrafts at an exhibition in Thanjavur on Wednesday. THANJAVUR: Handicrafts from various States were on display at the exhibition organised by Kalanjali (Uttar Pradesh Handicrafts, Handloom, Artisan’s Association) at Kavitha Mandram here. Chairperson of Thanjavur Municipality Thenmozhi Jayabal inaugurated the exhibition on Wednesday. According to Kevin Evers and Thufil Ahmed, Managers of Kalanjali, the exhibition would be held till March 24. Twenty per cent discount would be given for handloom goods and 10 per cent for handicrafts. Handblock printed bedsheets from Rajasthan, batik painted clothes, jewellery from Hyderabad, wooden toys from Chennapatna in Karnataka, cotton kurtas from Lucknow, handloom saris from Andhra Pradesh, Chungudi saris from Madurai, children chrithar from Jaipur, jute bags from West Bengal, mat items from Nagaland, bamboo items from Tripura, brass vessels from Moradabad, leather items from Vaniyampadi, white metal articles from Hyderabad, terrakota items from Kolkata were on display. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
