Easy win for APSRTC

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a match that witnessed a century from each side, APSRTC beat Eastern Naval Command by nine wickets in the VDCA institutions league here on Wednesday.

After Vikas Sharma hit 163 (17x4, 6x6) and N. Abbas made 38 (4x4) to help ENC score of 243 for three off 30 overs, Madhu Babu led the APSRTC run chase rattling off a century (138, 18x4, 3x6) and sharing 161 for the opening wicket with Chittibabu (24). Then Ch.S.V. Raju scored a quick unbeaten 52 (5x4, 1x6) to help ENC win by nine wickets with 1.1 overs to spare.

In another match, a fine all-round show by left-arm spinner P. Venkatapathi Raju, a five-wicket haul and a responsible 33, helped HPCL to beat GVMC by four wickets.

The scores: Eastern Naval Command 243 for three in 30 overs (Vikas Sharma 163 n.o.) lost to A.P.S.R.T.C. 246 for one in 28.1 overs (Madhu Babu 137, Ch.S.V. Raju 52 n.o.).

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation 129 in 26 overs (P. Venkatapathi Raju five for 50) lost to H.P.C.L. 132 for six in 29.1 overs.

Andhra Medical College 215 for seven (Vidya Sagar 59, Ravi Shankar four for 118) bt Customs 135 for nine in 22.5 overs (Mahesh 46). — Special Correspondent
