Raghavendran rescues Parry’s


Raghavendran added 90 with Suresh

Two games did not get underway


CHENNAI: N. Raghavendran’s late-order resistance against Jolly Rovers at IIT-Chemplast rescued Parry’s on a rain-affected opening day in the ninth round of the TNCA first division cricket league.

Raghavendran (64, 119b, 9x4) added 90 runs for the eighth wicket with A.K. Suresh (35 n.o.), as Parry’s recovered from 112 for seven to finish Wednesday on 221 for eight. N.S. Kumaraguru had earlier scored 44. R. Ashwin and I. Srikanth took three wickets each.

P. Amaranth returned figures of four for 28 at ICL-Gurunanak to help Grand Slam take control against IOB. Opener R.M. Karthik batted through the day to remain unbeaten on 53 (250b, 5x4, 1x6) as IOB scored 160 for eight by close.

M. Santhosh Gopi’s unbeaten 46 took Eagle to 114 for three against Aruna at Murugappa before bad light intervened. Tyagarajan had earlier made 37.

At CPT-IP, India Pistons reached 69 for two in the 21 overs possible after a delayed start. Globe Trotters seamer V. Yomahesh took both wickets to fall. R. Srinivasan was undefeated on 34.

The matches between Young Stars and Indian Bank at RKM-Vivekananda and Alwarpet and Vijay at SRMC didn’t get underway because the conditions were unfit for play.

The scores: Parry’s 221 for eight in 87 overs (N.S. Kumaraguru 44, N. Raghavendran 64) vs. Jolly Rovers, at IIT-Chemplast.

IOB 160 for eight in 86.1 overs (R.M. Karthik 53 batting, P. Amarnath four for 28) vs. Grand Slam, at ICL-Gurunanak.

Eagle 114 for three in 36 overs (M. Santhosh Gopi 46 batting) vs. Aruna, at Murugappa.

India Pistons 69 for two in 21 overs vs. Globe Trotters, at CPT-IP.
