Guwahati: The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) on Thursday threatened to target Bhojpuri Yuba Chatra Parishad activists for “attacking local Assamese people.” In a statement, military spokesman of the ULFA Raju Barua alleged that the activists attacked “local Assamese residents of Doomdooma and other areas of upper Assam’s Tinsukia and Dibrugarh district during a bandh called by the Parishad on Wednesday.” The bandh was called to protest against a bomb blast by suspected ULFA militants in the Doomdooma market on Tuesday during which a scuffle took place between bandh supporters and some autorickshaw drivers and traders. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
