Pushpagiri wins women’s title

THIRUVALLA: Pushpagiri Medical College ‘B’ side won the women’s title in the 3rd Mar Theophilos inter-medicos basketball tournament at the Pushpagiri medical college floodlit basketball court on Thursday.

Though all the three teams were tied with three points each, Pushpagiri ‘B’ was declared the winner on basis of better points quotient.

Host Pushpagiri Medical College will meet Somervel Memorial Medical College in the men’s final.

In the semifinals, Pushpagiri defeated Kottayam Medical College 33-13 while Somervel Memorial Medical College, Karakonam, overcame MOSC, Kolencherry 43-38.

The results: Men (semifinals): Pushpagiri Medical College 33 (Jeril Thomas 10) bt Medical College, Kottayam 13; Somervel Memorial Medical College, Karakonam 43 (Jacob C. Pillai 18, Thomas Sam 14) bt Malalankara Orthodox Syrian Christian Medical College 38 (Bevinsaji 11, Rahul Thomas 10).
