Yuki loses

NEW DELHI: The top-seeded Yuki Bhambri went down 3-6, 2-6 to Henri Kontinen of Finland in the pre-quarterfinals of the ITF grade ‘I’ junior tennis tournament at Bangkok.

The Australian Open junior semifinalist, Yuki had beaten David Holiner of the U.S. 6-4, 7-6(4) in the second round after a bye in the first.

In the girls’ section, Janaki Gunuganti also lost in the pre-quarterfinals to the eighth-seeded Jessy Rompies of Indonesia 6-7(4), 4-6.

The rest of the Indian boys and girls could not cross the second round.
